In the previous part, we talked about common blood status in the wizarding world. Apart from those, there are some blood statuses that are uncommon for wizarding world communities, which means this āuncommon blood status communityā does not often happen. This blood status is called āHalf-Breedā.
Okay, before we discuss Half-Breed in detail, we need to talk about classification of Magical Creature in Wizarding World. So, basically, there are 3 classes: Spirit, Beast, and Being.
Spirit is a class for ānot literally alive but not literally deadā creatures (I know this is confusing). Ghost, Banshee, Caipora, Gytrash, Poltergeist, Dementor, and also Boggart are in this class. Their existence is somehow unclear whether they can be killed or vanished, whether they were born or created, or anything related to death and life.
Beast is anything inside Newt Scamanderās āFantastic Beast and Where to Find Themā book. Sketchily, the Beast is a creature with no ability of thinking nor making decisions. But there are smart beasts such as Acromantula and Erkling who are classified into Beast because they are too wild (too beasty instead of brainy). There are also Centaur and Merpeople which are smart and wise enough for a Beast, but still classified as a Beast because both of them deny being in the same class as Hags and Vampire in Being classification (I know right).
The last one is Being. Being is defined as āany creature that has sufficient intelligence to understand the laws of the magical community and to bear part of the responsibility in shaping those lawsā. Us, Humans (whether Muggle or Wizard, half-blood or pure-blood, Muggle-born or Squib), belong to this class. But, we are not the only ones. Despite of Human, there are other 6 creatures who belong to this class: Giant, Hags, Goblin, Veela, House-Elf, and Vampire. And thatās the point of Half-Breed: a descendant of witch/wizard (Human) with another creature from Being class but Human.
How many times have you spotted Half-Breed during the Harry Potter series? Not all the time, donāt you? Thatās it, they are uncommon and rarely happen. Though they are part-wizard and able to practice magic, they remain part-non-Human creatures which makes them able to inherit their non-Human creature parents capability.
What about Nagini who is Maledictus or Remus who is Werewolf? Is there another blood-status for cursed blood like them? Or is there blood-status to define blood which carries special abilities such as Parselmouth, Metamorphmagus, or Seer? No, there isnāt. Witch or wizard who has hereditary special ability or cursed blood will not define their blood status. Their blood status will remain half-blood, pure-blood, Muggle-born, Squib, or Half-Breed depending on their parents and ancestors.
